Fawzia is committed to facilitate space in her group film workshops where the participants can create something intimate and meaningful for them and thus find beauty, dignity, integrity and grace in each moment of this process.
Fawzia believes in the power of making and watching films as a tool in the process of transformation.
No form of art goes beyond ordinary consciousness as film does, straight to our emotions, deep into the twilight room of the soul.
The following images are still shots of a moving image of a short-intervention spontaneous therapeutic film workshop in an out-patient care home for palliative care and about their experiences when facing death, and thus life.
The resources were limited ( a very small room, a low-budget camera), yet the participants reached into their own creative infinite resources and explored the intimacy of touch, movement, expression, listening and sharing their hearts.
"I am grateful to have met such resilient and beautiful souls who have the courage and strength to face, voice and to be."
The therapeutic film workshop sessions were divided in brainstorming ideas, compassionate listening within the group, sound recording and sharing skills of how to use a video camera and show the editing process. The participants thought about the space, shared the filming and chose together what they would like to display. Consent of each participant has been taken prior for permission of displaying the film.
